Canyon Cove Hotel and Resort Review

Last weekend was one of the best weekeds I've ever spent with. Friday morning, me and my hubby had a long drive to Batangas to spend a night with a gift from a friend during our wedding 3 months ago. She gave us a hotel accommodation to a resort named Canyon Cove. (Thank you so much Dra. Blancarose Sumallo for the special gift. How thoughtful of you!)

When we arrived at the place, it was quite fancy. It was my first thought in mind. The parking area was fully utilized. There were some sort of conference in the other building.  The security guards were bearable not too strict. I just don't like much the hotel receptionist. I think she was just a trainee because she's just wearing a white polo shirt. No nameplates, very limited smile and not too accomodating. Maybe because this resort is situated in the province but I guess the more they should be hospitable.

Anyway, we ended up in a superior room as it was what was printed in our voucher. Funny thing was that when we arrived, it seems that the room was so empty. No towels in the toilet area. We paid a deposit of Php 2,000 but all we can see in the cabinet were 2 bottles of drinking water, 2 sachets of cheap instant coffee and a water heater. The bathroom aside from no towel, there was no toothpaste, toothbrush and cleaning kit like cotton buds, etc. For request only said the small signage near the bathroom sink. Good thing, they had these tiny soap, shower gel and shampoo with conditioner. The room was big with 3 bedrooms and a flat-screen TV with cable but nothing fancy at all. There was no menu for room service. There was no table and chair outside the veranda for a small chat outside the room. Nothing in the refrigerator considering that they don't allow bringing of foods inside the resort.  Such a frustrating thing right? When you travelled that long drive and you open an empty fridge. Good thing, the room boy knocked and he handed me 2 bath towels. Hooray!

I toured the place for something to eat and I found out that they have a tie up with Max's restaurant. The menu were so limited and nothing special. It seems like you're just dining in the city area. You cannot feel the ambience that you are away from the city because the food is like an everyday food I eat in the mall. Pardon me, my workplace is in the mall so I usually eat at restaurants and fast food all the time.

Me and my husband took some rest when we arrived at around past 3pm. I am not used to of driving long distances so it gets into my nerves. Plus, I am not satisfied with the room that they gave to us. It's sort of a mini honeymoon for us but the accommodation is not worth the price. I was just plainly disappointed that"s why I just decided to sleep to release the ill feeling of dissatisfaction.

The next day, we had our breakfat. The room cost Php 5,999 in the voucher but no free breakfast. Ahhh, such a pity. If you will sum up, the voucher was only a pretending way of doing a promo since it's has very minimal difference with the usual accommodation rates with breakfast. Anyway, we headed to their only restaurant. My only consolation for the common food was the great male servers or waiters. They were accomodating than the females.

Strolling at the beach was amazing. It was clean and have fine white sand. No floating seaweeds or thrash whatsoever. So that's what I appreciate.  The swimming pool was a bit big and I'm glad there were small cottages around and sun-deck for sun bathing for free. The weather was good. I was able to enjoy the beach for about 2 hours because I am not a fan of swimming pool but my husband was able to enjoy both.

Upon check out, I was glad it was a different face who assisted us. Not the hotel receptionist we encountered yesterday and the new receptionist in uniform was polite and wished us well with our trip home. I wish she had a nameplate though, she must have been recognized here in this write up. Overall, I'll give it an average score of  3/5.
